Tokyo City Hall Observatory is a landmark located in western exit of Shinjuku Station. Omoide Yokocho(思い出横丁)

Omoide Yokocho, the street of memory, is a street of bars located around guard rails of Shinjuku Station’s western exit. It started with the street vendors around the station after World War 2. Meats or guts from cows and pigs are easier to buy than groceries in those period. Originated from this reason, the menus like Yakitori and roasted guts become their representative menu nowadays. If you don’t like roasted guts, there are also other simple meals like Yakiniku, soba, ramen and snacks addition to Yakitori. It seems uncomfortable because of small chairs and narrow intervals, but many travellers and natives visit this place to feel old atmosphere of Japan in busy downtown. Open time or off is different for each shops, Yakitori and bar usually open after 4pm.
